Setting Up Your Project

To get setup firstly you will need to download the latest source code.  Once this is done you will need to install the Resource Code Generators from the “Tools\Resource Provider Code Generators” directory.  This is required so that when editing resx files get re-generated correctly and exposed publically to the application. Any new resource files added to the project will need to have the custom tool set to Public Resource Code Generator.

The next thing to do is update your WMAppManifest.xml located within the EMC.Consulting.Mobile project under the properties folder.  Within this file you will need to update the product id with a new global unique id to ensure your app is unique in the marketplace (http://createguid.com/).  Additionally you should update relevant descriptions and titles for your application.  The last thing to do is determine whether you are wanting to start building a Pivot based application or a Panorama.  You can set the default task for the navigation page accordingly within the WMAppManifest.xml file:

Pivot View

    <Tasks>
      <DefaultTask Name ="_default"
                   NavigationPage="Views/PivotMainPage.xaml" />
    </Tasks>

Panorama View

    <Tasks>
      <DefaultTask Name ="_default"
                   NavigationPage="Views/PanoramaMainPage.xaml" />
    </Tasks>

Delete the relevant view once you have chosen which style you wish to get started with.

This completes the setup to get you up and running and building great Silverlight applications for Windows Phone 7!
